Sender ID Guide

The name your recipients see instead of a phone number, and how to get yours approved.

What is a Sender ID?

A Sender ID is the “From” name that appears on an SMS instead of a random phone number. For example, a message from Techieszon arrives as if Techieszon sent it, not an unfamiliar number. It's the first thing a recipient sees, and it's a major factor in whether they trust and open the message.

The rules

  • Up to 11 characters
  • Letters and numbers only, no spaces or symbols
  • Should clearly identify who's sending the message

Good examples

  • MyStore
  • ClinicGH
  • PayNow
  • SchoolApp

Avoid these

  • My Store Name: spaces and too long (11 characters max)
  • 12345: numeric-only IDs are typically rejected by carriers
  • FREEMONEY: reads as spam and will be blocked

How approval works

  1. 1. Request a Sender ID from your dashboard.
  2. 2. It's reviewed by our team, not an automated filter.
  3. 3. You get an email the instant it's approved or rejected, with a reason if declined.
  4. 4. Approved Sender IDs are ready to use immediately on any send.

Frequently asked

How long does approval take?

It's reviewed by a person, not a bot, so it varies, but most requests are decided quickly. You'll get an email the moment a decision is made.

What if my Sender ID is rejected?

You'll see the reason directly in your dashboard and by email. You can submit a new request with an adjusted name at any time.

Can I use a phone number as my Sender ID instead?

Yes, replies-enabled phone numbers are supported as an alternative to a branded name, depending on your use case.

Can I have more than one Sender ID?

Yes, you can request as many as you need. Useful if you run campaigns for more than one brand or department.
